Meet The Team

Our team of nine players live in Littleton, Colorado, a suburb of Denver.  Denver is the capitol of Colorado and the state's largest city.  Over three million people live in Denver and surrounding suburbs.  Denver is nicknamed the "Mile-High City" because its official elevation is one mile  (5,280 feet) (1,609.344 m) above sea level.  The city is located a few miles from the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.  Here is a website where you can learn more about Denver, Colorado.  http://www.denver.org

Most of the boys on our team have been playing soccer together since they were 7 and 8 years old.  They play for the Colorado Rush soccer club, which is one of the larger soccer clubs in Colorado.   http://www.coloradorush.com.

We learned of the Shell Tournament  from Gudmundur Jonsson, a native of Iceland.  Gudmundur lives in Colorado and coaches in the Colorado Rush club.  In 2009 he took his son's (Ian) team to Iceland to compete in the Shell Tournament.  The boys and families that traveled in 2009 had a fantastic experience getting to know the people in Iceland and playing at the Shell Tournament.

Many of the players' family members will be joining the team on this trip and experiencing Iceland for the first time.  We have 28 people making the trip.  I'm sure you can imagine how excited the boys are to travel to a new country and play the game they love.

We can't wait to get there!
